84: "Signature Time"

This may seem like political dead time, but let me assure you it is not. This is a very important time in the political schedule as it is when campaigns are defined and set into motion. We are approaching the 30 day mark after the recent Primary. There are folks who need your help. You have all done magnificently in your first step in seizing back the power that has been usurped by others. But there remains much work to be done.

Russ Diamond is campaigning for Governor as an Independent. The Republicans and the Democrats have placed an unfair burden on him in terms of gathering an enormous number of signatures on his nominating petition to get on the ballot in November. Diamond is required to obtain slightly over 67,000 signatures. In order to assure that he has enough valid signatures, he is shooting for 100,000, as his opponents, Lynn Swann and Ed Rendell will likely challenge as many signatures as they can.

Pennsylvania deserves a third choice. Both parties have abandoned their base and become parties of monied interests, and political graft and corruption. They no longer represent you. Now they represent the lobbies, and the powerful and rich.

If you do nothing else political this summer, please sign one of Russ Diamond’s nominating petitions. There are three ways to do this:
  1. Visit one of Russ Diamond’s campaign stops (see latest schedule below) and sign there, or
  2. Visit his website signature page and follow the instructions for downloading and printing the petition, then follow instructions for mailing it in to his campaign.
  3. Gather signatures for Russ Diamond’s campaign. Again, visit his website’s Signature Central page and follow the instructions. It is not a difficult task, and is an exercise in civics that should leave you feeling proud of your contribution.
We have added several links for Russ Diamond’s various web pages on his site so you can get information anytime by clicking on one. The links are under the Endorsed Candidates section on the sidebar to the right.

Try to make at least one of these events. Sign his nominating petition and give yourself a real choice in November.

And that is free advice from one Republican who will not be voting for Swann, or Rendell. I’ll be voting for Russ Diamond.

We desperately need reform. We desperately need clean, transparent, government. Russ Diamond will give us that.
