Expert says prolonged economic shutdown will cost millions of lives
Dr. Jay Bhattacharya is a professor of medicine at Stanford University. He is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a senior fellow at both the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research. For the liberals who insist a lockdown is the only way to save lives, he cautions that a global depression, which is likely the longer we continue the economic shutdowns, will lead to the loss of millions of lives. So the "dollars vs. lives" crowd needs to get a grip. Every life lost to COVID-19 so far is tragic, but millions more will die under the quarantine measures taken by politicians. The longer we keep the economy shut down, the more lives will be lost. That's science! That's medicine! Dr. Bhattacharya also says a vaccine is years away, so stop pretending we can keep people locked in their homes for years.
