If you still haven't figured out why this country is in the sorry mess it is, it's because idiots keep electing inconsiderate and egotistic people like Sheila Jackson Lee to Congress.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) hosted a town hall in her home district of Houston, but spent more time talking on her cell phone than talking with her constituents about health care reform.
In a video uploaded on YouTube, Lee is seen chatting away on her cell phone for several moments while an attendee shared her own patient story as a cancer survivor who opposes President Obama's health care reform proposals. The speaker was calm and respectful, gently persisting even after Lee refused to end her phone call. When asked by the Houston Chronicle why she spoke on her phone during the woman's remarks, Lee explained, "In Congress, we have to multi-task."
Her behavior is indicative of the mindset of those in favor of Obamacare: Drowning out those with whom they disagree and willfully ignoring the voice of the people. Maybe Lee's challenger in her 2010 re-election bid should utilize this clip: an elected official refusing to listen to a cancer survivor in a health care forum. It's hard to explain why a cell phone conversation is more important than hearing the perspective of someone most nearly affected by health care- a cancer victim.
