National Night Out is Aug. 5

At the very least, turn on all your outdoor lights on Tuesday, Aug. 5, to celebrate National Night Out, the annual crime prevention celebration.

Many communities are hosting block parties, carnivals or other events.

It's all designed to get people out to meet neighbors and local law enforcement and send a message to criminals that they're not wanted.
